Welcome, residents, to the inaugural blog post from Corazon apartments in East Austin. With a little luck, and a lot of writing, this blog will become your go-to source for finding out about events in town, restaurant recommendations and apartment living advice.
If you’re new to Austin, welcome! There’s a lot to take in, but we’re here to help. If you’re new to the East Side, you’re probably wondering what happened to this area that used to be a simple hipster hangout but has now blossomed into one of Austin’s most vibrant, desireable neighborhoods.
The East Side has managed to keep its charm while adding luxury apartments, high end restaurants and plenty of new residents. East siders can still pop over to the Yellow Jacket Social Club for a night of classic East Side fun, but now they can come home some of the finest luxury apartments Austin has to offer.
In this week’s blog post, we’re talking about some of the most popular restaurants and food trucks on the East Side. The food truck scene around here is good enough to rival some of the best restaurants, so we would be doing you a disservice if we didn’t mention the food trucks as well. Check out the list below, and be sure to share it with your neighbors. Next time you feel like spending a day exploring your East Side neighborhood, refuel at one of the restaurants mentioned below.
This Brazilian food truck is always popular, their food is always fresh and no matter what you order, it always hits the spot. Before you read any further, remember that they’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you’re reading this blog post on one of those days, we’re very sorry.
Now for the good news; Boteco is one of the rare eateries to earn a “5 star” rating on Yelp. That is not easily accomplished, people. We’d talk about the food, but unless you’re brazilian, you probably won’t recognize any of the names. They have farofa, arroz e feijão, coxinhas de galinhas and more. Just go try something on the menu, you won’t regret it.
Don’t let the fancy name fool you, Launderette a great place for a good time. Although it’s mostly a wine bar, they serve some of the best food in Austin. Their burgers are famous, and their stuffed olives make a perfect pre-dinner snack to pair with your wine.
As for the atmosphere, it’s cozy yet elegant. It’s not over the top fancy, but they do serve small, well-played portions. Yelp reviewers rave about Launderette “Instagram-worthy” decor, so don’t forget to wear your most photo-ready outfit.
Yelp reviewers recommend ordering the wings at Revelry, and you can rest assured that the atmosphere you eat your meal in will be exactly what you’re looking for. The restaurant is an old house that’s been converted to a bar, much like you’d find on Rainey Street. If chicken wings aren’t your thing, try literally anything with the bacon jam. Revelry has a few other popular dishes including grilled cheese, chicken tacos and chili fries.
